About the Bridgeport Barnums
View From our Home Field

Bridgeport has a long deep history in Baseball, from Baseball Hall of Fame member James “the orator” O’Rourke through the mid-20th century of Industrial leagues, the Bridgeport Bees and ending with the Bluefish.  I am part of group of local baseball people that have a passion for Bridgeport, particularly the history and its’ national pastime.  We have formed a nonprofit 501c3 called Bridgeport Barnum's Community Baseball Inc. We operate  a  college summer team called The Bridgeport Barnums with players from the Greater Bridgeport Region.

We decided to celebrate PT Barnum due to his association with the city of Bridgeport and what better way to honor Barnum by naming the college team after him. We will be playing at Seaside Park at the foot of his Statue at Diamond #1, the land he donated to the city for such a wonderful park. The team will be playing in the Connecticut College Baseball League much like the Cape Cod League, consisting of teams in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The rosters consist of players that play in college throughout the northeast and beyond at the division1,2.3 and Juco levels. It will be the first time in many decades that Bridgeport had a true college summer league team.
